A 40-year-old woman was killed Saturday afternoon and a 3-year-old boy and a man were injured when the car they were in crashed into a parked truck in East Oakland, authorities said.
Police said th woman was an Oakland resident, but did not release her name pending notification of relatives.
The collision happened about 12:12 p.m. Saturday in the 1900 block of Dennison Street.
Police said a 35-year-old man was driving a Chevrolet Impala with the woman and boy as passengers. The woman was in the right front seat and the child was seat-belted in a rear car seat, police said.
For a still undetermined reason, the car veered and crashed into a parked big-rig truck, police said.The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The man and child were taken to hospitals and were in stable condition, police said.
Police have not yet said publicly what the relationships are between the three.
Police said it is not yet known if alcohol,drugs or speed were factors in the collision.
