OAKLAND — Two people were injured in a shooting Thursday just steps from busy commercial corridors, authorities said.
Shortly before 6 p.m., officers responded to reports of ShotSpotter activity in the 300 block of 27th Street.
When officers arrived at a scene just east of Telegraph Avenue, they found a person suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
Officers provided aid until paramedics and Oakland Fire Department firefighters arrived to take the injured person to a hospital, where they were listed in stable condition.
Soon after, police learned of a second victim suffering from a gunshot wound who managed to obtain his own transportation to a hospital. That person was listed in critical condition, police said.
Police blocked off traffic along nearby streets to collect evidence and keep back active crowds from the scene, steps away from the city’s Telegraph Avenue and Broadway commercial corridors.
Investigators said they do not yet have any motives or suspects in custody, and did not disclose any descriptions of suspects or associated vehicles.
For information leading to the arrest of a suspect, police are offering up to $10,000 in the shooting. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers of Oakland at 510-777-8572.
